Drop.io was a simple, free, and anonymous file sharing service that existed from 2008 - 2010. I was the fifth employee, hired as a web developer to work on the server side code, front end interfaces, and other assorted programming projects. Using the site, users could create private "drops" at custom URLs, to which they could upload images, videos, audio files, and more, and then easily share those files with others. There was also a real-time component to the site, that let users see immediate changes to the drop as well as chat with others. I contributed in some way to almost every feature on the site including researching and implementing the real-time infrastructure. I additionally built a popular drop.io Firefox extension that gained over 250,000 downloads as well as a Yahoo Mail integration that was released to over 100 million Yahoo Mail users. Drop.io was purchased by Facebook in 2010 and subsequently discontinued.
